It's difficult to take this final step. Giving the engagement ring means being ready to get married, to spend a lifetime together with that special person to whom you're offering the ring. Maybe you've been dating for five years, maybe much less. Maybe you've already talked about the possibility of marriage, or maybe you're surprised by getting down on one knee and popping the question. It's a real emotional roller coaster; putting yourself in the spotlight like that, with the risk of being rejected, must be very difficult. However, the reward certainly seems worth it.

It should be with the person you consider most special in the world, who changes your way of seeing things for the better, who cares about you and your worries, achievements, goals, and desires, and who doesn't belittle them. What's important to you should be important to them. Supporting each other no matter what, that's the key.
